Happy New Year to the blog and well done Rory on all your efforts and excellent contributions over the last 12 months.
My one New Years wish for 2012 is that the eminent local talent that is John Cassidy put as much time into promoting grass roots/indigenous chess as he does to working on his FIDE rating. A good start might be his presenting at club nights rather than staying at home preparing for his appearance at the next Candidates Tournament.
